Phillip Fleming is a comic artist based in Atlanta. He earned his MFA in Comics at the California College of the Arts and his BFA in Sequential Art at the Savannah College of Art and Design. Phillip Fleming constructs graphic novels inspired by the histories of African and Caribbean cultures using themes of slavery, vampires, pandemics, and war. His titles include Lost Jerusalem, Rooted, and Blood and Irons, and his latest webcomic, Black Ghost. While working on creator owned content Phillip has worked as an arts educator.
Throughout his career he has brought much needed diversity to art classrooms within the downtown areas of Boston and Detroit, as well as Ocala, Florida, Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Atlanta, Georgia. Phillip’s comic work has been featured in exhibitions in Georgia, California, and Michigan. He is currently an Adjunct Professor of Sequential Art at Kennesaw State University and owner of The Comic Workshop.
